WHY APPLY FOR non-resident CCW from other states?

By obtaining a non-resident license from a state with a wide range of reciprocity agreements, you could carry in even more states than if you only had a license from your home state. For example, you have an NYC CCW, but Florida does not recognize it. You get the Florida CCW, and now you can legally carry in Florida and in 32 other states that recognize the Florida non-resident CCW. And their license is valid for 7 years!

According to the USCCA website they rated the following the TOP 5 states to apply:

Utah, Florida, Virginia, New Hampshire, and Maine with Arizona as another great state to get.

Guide on how to apply for an ARIZONA CCW (Non-Resident):

It is a simple one page form which can be downloaded, filled out and mailed.

The Application:

Download and fill out this form (link).
Proof of Identity: photocopy of your state Drivers License.
2 fingerprint cards (can be done at any Police Station or fingerprinting service.)
A copy of any firearms training certificate that meets the minimum necessary requirements:

You are required to complete a handgun safety course prior to submitting the application, which must consist of no less than the NRA's "Basic Pistol Course." The NRA's "Home Firearms Safety Course" and "First Steps Pistol Orientation Program" are not approved courses. The NYS 18 hour class certificate is acceptable (my experience).

Payment of $60.00 - can be money order or cashier’s check or certified check payable to AZ DPS - they do not accept personal checks. Put YOUR NAME in the MEMO section.
Mail the completed application packet (use Priority Mail with Return Receipt) to:

Guide on how to apply for a CONNECTICUT CCW (Non-Resident):

You should call (860) 685-8494 to request an application. (They state to send an email request, put if often is never received).

They will take your name and mailing address and mail you the application and fingerprint card.

Once you receive the packet:

You will fill out the application and check off the box on top that you are applying for a Non-Resident Permit.
You will need a photocopy of your home state Concealed Handgun License (with all information clearly visible.)
The Completed fingerprint cards (both a state and federal card are supplied with the packet, can be done at any Police Station.) Must be signed and completed.
A check or money order in the amount of $70.00 for the license itself. Payable to: Treasurer, State of Connecticut
A separate payment in the amount of $77.25, for the background fingerprint check which is payable online using a credit card. The link will be on the Green Instructions Page that comes in the packet. http://ct.flexcheck.us.idemia.io/cchrspreenroll with the code: C13C-7625 - you must print the confirmation email with the Bar Code and include it in the application packet.

Evidence of citizenship (a copy of birth certificate, US passport, or voter registration card.)
Veterans must include a copy of their DD-214
The form DPS-129-C must be completed, signed, and notarized. Also, you need to affix a recent 2"x2" passport photo on a white background.
The form DPS-799-C must be completed, signed and notarized.
The form DPS-249-C Authorization for Release of Personal Information.
The form Privacy Rights, must be signed and dated.
This license is valid for 5 years, and it takes usually up to 8 weeks to process the application (on the instructions page they say up to 5 months, however many received their card in the mail about 2 months after sending it in).

Guide on how to apply for a PENNSYLVANIA CCW (Non-Resident):

It’s as simple as it gets. The hardest part is getting to the Sheriffs’ County office - they require to submit and retrieve your application in person.

Some counties allow you to do the application ONLINE, (see below the list) however, you need to pick up the license IN PERSON.

You will need the following:

For question 28, select ‘Self Defense’

Your valid Drivers’ License.
Your valid Concealed Carry License from your home state.
$ 20.00 (cash only)
They will take your picture for the ID.

That’s it.

Usually you are in and out in 20 minutes or less with your new Non-Resident PA Concealed Carry License in hand. Remember to say Tefillas Haderech and drive safely.

PIKE COUNTY - License Pick Up Appointment Info:

Upon arrival (it's in the Court Building), there's an officer in the front with a metal detector.

No cell phone or other electronic devices i.e. Air pods, smart watch - they put it all in a locker).

Once in the Sheriff's office, I told the officer behind the glass that I'm here for my Firearm License. She didn't check if I have an appointment, asked for my Driver's License and took my picture, printed it, laminated it and handed it to me. In and out less than 4 minutes...

And yes, I did bring a large Platter of Rugalach, cookies from Shlomie's Bakery. She was very thankful and came out from behind the bullet proof glass office and took it inside.

Upon leaving, the officer told me as I was retrieving my cell phone etc., that you don't need an appointment. They have it designed this way not to overwhelm their office...

RENEWING A PA Non-Resident Permit:

I had one from Centre County which was up for renewal. (When I initially got mine it was the only County that issued a PA N/R for a Premise License, all others gave only if you have a Carry in your home state. Centre County is almost 4 hours each way from NYC).

I was up to renewal. I dreaded the idea to go all the way to Centre County. I inquired and I was able to Renew in any County. If you are renewing in a different County, don't choose 'Renewal' on the online application, choose 'New'.

Guides on how to apply for MARYLAND, UTAH and VIRGINIA CCW (Non-Resident)

Not all state's concealed carry permits are created equal. Your state's permit may not provide you with reciprocity in the states you visit most. The states that I have above and with these states, you will have the ability to carry in most states possible.

Also, every state has different laws pertaining to carrying, restrictions etc. It is your responsibility to know these laws and be familiar with them prior to you visiting that state.
